Parent Half-Day Parent Workshop: Emotionally Intelligent Parenting

with Nancy Lee, MA, LPC

Experts agree that the ability to handle emotions skillfully (emotional intelligence and regulation) is crucial for healthy functioning and development. Learning and refining this ability can be especially stressful for gifted and twice exceptional (2e) children, especially those who struggle physical, social-emotional, and academic issues. This workshop aims to bridge the gap between what we “should” do and what we can do as parents.

Psychotherapist Nancy Lee will offer research, strategies and experiential activities that will help translate information into insight and practice. Explore the importance of emotional regulation and what it takes to raise an emotionally skillful child, particularly with the challenges that come with parenting gifted and 2e children. Whether you are new to this topic or a seasoned gifted parent, you will come away with new strategies that can be used to enhance your child's emotional health and well-being. An overview of giftedness and 2e will be included for those new to the topic.
